Our Lady Star of the Sea School

Following a successful entry into the original design competition for the new Esperance Catholic School in 1995, the project entailed master planning, design and construction of all 5 stages of the School from inception to the last stage design of the BER School Hall on the western most end of the school facing the extreme weather of the Southern Ocean 300m away.

The design of cast concrete wall in the shape of whales often seen nearby, provides a protective barrier to the strong winds and maritime weather, sheltering the hall space behind. The wall is dotted with white and coloured light pipes providing ‘stars’ of light into the spaces by day and reflecting the night sky at night.
