Claremont Hotel Renovation

  • Claremont
  • Bistro, bar and courtyard for indoor and outdoor dining, function spaces and a rooftop bar
  • Upstairs outdoor garden area, perfect for relaxed dining, social gatherings and group celebrations

The vision for the Claremont Hotel redevelopment was to create a landmark pub for the locals, featuring a bistro, bar and courtyard for indoor and outdoor dining, function spaces and a rooftop bar. The project is a key opportunity to reactivate the Claremont Town Centre and enhance the connection to the new Claremont Train Station.  It will bring life back to the town centre, cementing its location within the Western Suburbs and delivering a reimagined hotel that has been the heart of Claremont for over a century, but is currently missing.

The architecture is drawn from its local context – as a stalwart of the town centre since its early inception, The Claremont Hotel has seen transformations throughout its history but continues to hold a place in the heart of locals. The redevelopment will respect and maintain the key historical built form while creating a vibrant and refined hotel that enhances the experience of patrons. The new extended form and interventions within the existing fabric defines a crafted design that drenches the previously dark internal spaces in natural light and creates seamless connections between the indoor and outdoor areas.

The new central courtyard is illuminated by a wide skylight array and creates a light and airy contemporary space at the focal point of the grand staircase. This courtyard is flanked by new function spaces, boutique bars and back of house extensions, all with scalable patron floor areas for maximum operator flexibility. A number of different zones have been provided that will ensure a range of options are provided for different demographics of the community including an upstairs outdoor garden area, perfect for relaxed dining, social gatherings and group celebrations.  Families with young children will feel as welcome enjoying a meal and having fun in the children’s playground, while young adults and corporates enjoy a night out.

Due for completion in 2022, the pride of Claremont is on its way back.
